For the sixth time, the trade magazine Backtechnik Europe, organ of the Association of the Bakery Industry (VDB) and the European Association of Industrial Bakers (AIBI), will present the iba Awards at iba 2023. The innovation awards honor solutions that enable decisive quantitative or qualitative improvements in the line production of baked goods. The iba Award-winning solutions are aimed at the bread and baked goods industry as well as the wholesale trade. The award winners are selected by an independent and honorary jury of experts following an inspection visit to the trade fair.

The iSCORE scoring unit

Decorative cuts on breads give a bakery's products a characteristic trademark and ensure that the baked goods look appealing. However, the cutting process used to be very complex and cost a lot of time and manpower. In addition, the quality of manual cutting is inconsistent and fluctuating.

To simplify and automate cutting technology for bakeries, Koenig has developed the innovative iSCORE bread cutting system, a unique solution for automation and gentle dough handling for efficient operation.

Advanced technology makes the iSCORE system one of the most advanced cutting systems on the market, simulating and even enhancing the skills of a master baker. Automated cutting and "artificial intelligence" functions allow bakeries to save valuable resources such as labor, time, and dough by eliminating dough waste during high-precision cutting.

The iSCORE bread cutting system cuts bread with unmatched performance for fast cutting: up to 12,000 cuts per hour per robot (with a single cutting tool), one system can basically integrate an unlimited number of robots. 

There is an unlimited number of patterns. Whether "simple" cuts on baguettes, decorative "artisan" style cuts or complex decorative patterns on loaves of bread, the team of highly skilled professionals will design the right solution for bakeries of any size.

Custom creasing and 3D vision system: the system scans the product in 3D and adapts the custom cutting pattern to the length, width, height, and shape of each product. For the iSCORE system, no two products are alike and are analyzed individually. Thanks to the integrated image processing system, the exact position of the loaf on the board is detected, and the evaluation is adjusted individually for each loaf. Regardless of its position on the board.

iSCORE is available in different models to adapt to the production capacity of our customers. Three different types of industrial robots can be used in the system: Delta, Scara or Arm Robot. All models include a scanner unit, one or more cutting robots, a conveyor belt, a control cabinet and a CPU.
