Prolink Plastic Modular Belts Series 18 (Curved and Spiral Belt)

The strong modular belt series 18 is characterized above all by its high tensile strength and particularly high lateral stiffness. With their innovative coupling rod system, these belts are ideally suited for both straight and curved transport.

With a pitch of 25.4 mm (1 in), Prolink series 18 stands apart for its comparatively low weight. Belts from this series are ideal for straight and curved conveying. They come in incision-resistant polyacetal (POM-CR) and polypropylene (PP) and in blue and white in each case.

The belts are available with guided hold-down tabs or without guidance on the belt edge. Although the belt, including the hinge pins, is made solely of plastic and therefore very lightweight, it’s very rigid and can handle heavy loads (up to 1600 N in a curve).

The unique pin system is another clever feature. The hinge pins are made of innovative PLX material and perform at a consistently high level, even in wet applications. What’s more – in contrast to the majority of comparable products – the system requires no small closures, therefore reducing the risk of product contamination due to small parts that have been damaged or gone astray. The twin-row sprocket makes reversing operations easy and ensures perfect power transmission.

Another particularly interesting aspect for users: Series 18 is ideal for many existing conveyor configurations and can, in most cases, be fitted effortlessly to existing conveyor systems.

The belts can be used in lots of areas in the food industry. Their narrow Grid Top structure allows conveying of small products. With an open area of 44%, series 18 also provides excellent airflow and drainage. The belts are easy to clean and ideal for conveying packaged and unpackaged foodstuffs, so all its materials are FDA and EU compliant.

The latest series 18 product developments, S18-44 HDK 2.2 and S18-44 GRT 1.7, increase the options to include conveying and returning trays, baking trays and product bowls, or products that are very wide.

The special High Deck design of S18-44 HDK 2.2 guarantees products can be pushed off at the sides and has sufficient width to convey products that extend beyond the actual belt width. The belt edges are the same thickness as the standard modules, while the center is 10.1 mm (0.40 in) thicker. This design allows hold-down bars to guide the belt at the edges and prevent it from lifting in curves.

The belt can be used to convey packaging, crates, product bowls and lots of other products requiring a large belt width. The products can also protrude over the sides.

The S18-44 GRT 1.7 variant is primarily chosen in applications where there’s little space. The small curve radii keep the space required by the conveyor low.
