How does the EINFACH MEHRWEG and its reusable system work?
EINFACH MEHRWEG is an open, deposit-based reusable system in which every company with to-go products in the food retail and gastronomy sector can participate in– regardless of its size. The setup and design of all our reusable containers allows all containers to be returned via existing reverse vending machines all over Germany.
With its more than 3,700 stores in Germany, REWE supermarkets alone offer a return option regardless of where the reusable container was lent from there or another system partner. In total, there are more than 5,000 return points for the reusable packaging of EINFACH MEHRWEG, today.
The containers are cleaned by professional industrial rinsing facilities in order to achieve the necessary hygiene in terms of consumer protection. For the users, the handling is easy, as no app, no customer account and thus no registration and disclosure of personal data are necessary for lending a EINFACH MEHRWEG container or cup.
The Federal Environment Minister Steffi Lemke has awarded EINFACH MEHRWEG with the German government's "Blauer Engel" eco-label in June 2023. In addition, the reusable alternative for disposable packaging developed and introduced by Sykell has been awarded the "ECR Sustainability Award 2023" by GS1 Germany.
